KATO driver analyst

Features

Description

The Kato Driver Analyst provides information about DMA transfers, buffers, interrupts and hardware registers, and can record this information to replay at a later date.

You can use the Analyst to manually operate the S16D and S11W drivers, changing device options and parameters while the device is running.

The Kato Driver Analyst provides direct read and write access to S16D and S 11W registers, and supports programmed I/O.

Invoke the Kato Driver Analyst on a local host, and gather information from either a local or remote S16D or S11W interface. The Kato daemon runs on the remote host, and transfers information between the remote S16D or S11W device and the local host over the Internet network.

The Kato Driver Analyst is an option to the S16D and S11W interfaces, and is bundled separately from the driver software.

Applications

The Kato Driver Analyst provides information about application I/O and performance. Developers can use this information to debug applications or attached hardware while the device is operating, and optimize their applications for maximum bandwidth.

Use the Flight Recorder to capture and store the behavior of an S16D or S11W interface. With the Analyst, you can capture and study infrequent or difficult-to-reproduce events, or transmit this information to off-site experts.

You can also use the flight recordings to examine the DMA transfer performance of another host, examine the performance of this host on a previous date, or compare local system performance before and after you vary hardware and software configurations.

For developers who purchase S16D or S 11W driver source, the Analyst provides detailed information about driver behavior in real time, the ability to examine and modify device registers, and convenient control of driver trace and debug flags.
